Building confidence and agency through performance
Theatre tools create space for self-awareness, empowerment and dialogue. In collaboration with Anamuh Arts for Dialogue, RTI’s participatory theatre workshops create opportunities to explore, create and connect in a creative, constructive and proactive group process. The programme uses Paulo Freire’s Forum Theatre method, and Playback Theatre, a community-honouring improvisational theatre technique, allowing the group to explore different stories and then design and rehearse a play, which will be staged at the end of the course.
As with all our programmes, the project places a strong emphasis on diversity and social inclusion, and there is no requirement for previous theatre experience. The current group includes participants from 8 different countries: Afghanistan, Georgia, Greece, Ireland, Pakistan, Poland, Syria and Kurdistan.
